Guru Purnima – 05 July 2020
This year Guru Purnima is celebrated on 5th July, 2020. Well, it is celebrated on the full moon date of the Hindu calendar month Ashadha. On the day of Guru Purnima, the Gurus (teachers and mentors) are worshipped. In a layman language, Guru is one who brings us out to the light from the darkness by enlightening us with the knowledge. Throughout the nation this festival is celebrated with full enthusiasm, faith, and emotions.
Muhurat for Guru Purnima Puja
- For Guru Purnima puja or the Vyasa Puja, Purnima tithi must prevails from the first 3 Muhurats after the sunrises.
- Though if the purnima has less than 3 muhurats after the sunrises, then in such case celebrations will take place on the previous day.
Vidhi of the Guru Purnima Puja
- Wake up early in the morning and first perform daily rituals bathing, cleaning, and puja.
- Afterwards, offers flowers and garland of pleasant fragrance to the image of Vyasa ji and after that visit your own respected Guru.
- Make sure your respected Guru sit on a chair or somewhere on a heighted place and only offer a Garland.
- Then offer, clothes, fruits, dry fruits, flowers, Garland, and dakshina in the form of money to your respected guru, and then take their blessings.
Why Guru Purnima is celebrated
Well, a very eminent personality from the ancient period, a very well renowned author of some most incredible texts like Brahma Sutra, Mahabharata, Shrimad Bhahvat, and 18 puranas also. A Maharshi Veda Vyasa as per the belief was born on the Ashadha Purnima. According to the Hindu shastra Ved Vyas was the son of Rishi parashara. In the hindu shastra, Veda Vyas was well aware of all the kaals. It is he who has divided the Vedas into 4 parts. So, that people find it easy to read and recognize. Maharshi Vyas is considered as a very prominent ancient Guru. Thus, this festival is celebrated as birthday of prominent personality Vyas ji. That’s why, this day is called as Vyas Purnima.
