- Offer yellow clothes to the deity.

Once, in the court of Indra, the king of the heavens, a grand celebration was underway. A celestial singer named Malyavan and his wife, Pushpavati, were performing. Malyavan became distracted by his wife’s beauty, leading to a mistake in their performance. Indra, enraged, cursed them to take birth as ghosts.
For a long time, the couple suffered in their ghostly existence. On Jaya Ekadashi, they worshipped Lord Vishnu with devotion and observed a fast. Pleased by their devotion, Lord Vishnu freed them from the curse and restored their position in heaven.
