 CELEBRATIONS OF SANKASHTI CHATURTHI

This auspicious day, also known as Sakat Chauth, is dedicated to the worship of Lord Ganesha. Because the Sanskrit term “sankashti” signifies “deliverance from turbulent or difficult times,” worshipping Lord Ganesha on this day will bring you peace and prosperity in the future. On this day, devotees frequently fast in order to be free of obstructions. Lord Ganesha is revered as the God of Wisdom and Fortune. Sankashti means “relief from difficulties.” Lord  Ganesha is said to alleviate troubles and eliminate impediments for believers. Sankashti Chaturthi is observed every month on the 4th day of Krishna Paksha, according to the Hindu Lunar Calendar. Sankashti Chaturthi is one of the most auspicious days for pleasing Lord Ganesha. As previously said, Lord Shiva declared his son Ganesha to be superior to all gods on this day. Before undertaking any rites or beginning a new business, Lord Ganesha is worshipped. He is also known as Vignaharta and is venerated as the god of wisdom (the one who clears all obstacles).

 CELEBRATIONS OF SANKASHTI CHATURTHI

Angarki Sankashti Chaturthi is celebrated in both the northern and southern portions of India, although it is most prominent in Maharashtra. People think that fasting and worshipping Lord Ganesha on this day will grant them Sankashti (year-long escape from troubles). Lord Ganesha devotees fast on Chaturthi and break their fast when the moon is seen. As Ganesha is venerated as the Lord of Intelligence, the day is considered auspicious, and followers seek the god’s grace to assist them overcome difficulties in their lives. Devotees bathe, dress in clean clothes, and make puja preparations. An incense lamp is used to worship Lord Ganesha, while the mantra Om Ganeshaya Namah is sung. There are also other Vedic mantras dedicated to the elephant-headed god recited. In front of Lord Ganesha’s idol, candles are also lit. In honour of Lord Ganesha, worshippers recite the Lord Ganesha narrative. On this occasion, laddus, modaks, and other sweets that were thought to be the god’s favourites are offered to him. Many believers also do pujas in order to please the Moon. Flowers, rice, sandalwood, and water are all offered to the Moon in exchange for blessings.

 REASON TO CELEBRATE

Angarki was Lord Ganesha’s follower, according to legend, and she worshipped him with a pure heart. Her devotion pleased Lord Ganesha, and he appeared before her. Angarki expressed a desire to be identified with the god, so he gave her a gift: any Chaturthi that falls on a Tuesday will be known as Angarki Chaturthi
