GANESH CHATURTHI

 

Ganesh Chaturthi, additionally called Vinayaka Chaturthi, in Hinduism, 10-day celebration denoting the introduction of the elephant-headed divinity Ganesha, the lord of success and shrewdness. It starts on the fourth day (chaturthi) of the period of Bhadrapada (August–September), the 6th month of the Hindu schedule.
Toward the beginning of the celebration, icons of Ganesha are put on brought stages up in homes or in extravagantly improved open air tents.

RITUALS TO BE PERFORMED ON GANESH CHATURTHI

There are four primary ceremonies which are performed during the 10-day long celebration. They are to be specific—Pranapratishhtha, Shhodashopachara, Uttarpuja, and Ganpati Visarjan.
The energy of Ganesh Chaturthi gets comfortable weeks before the celebration really starts. Craftsmans begin planning earth symbols of Ganesha in various stances and sizes.
At homes, temples, and other locations, Ganesha statues are placed in artistically designed ‘pandals.’ Flowers, garlands, and lights adorn the statue as well. A priest sings mantra to inspire life in the diety in a ritual known as Pranapratishhtha.

MANTRA TO CHANT ON GANESH CHATURTHI

“Vakratunda Mahaakaaya Suryakoti Samaprabhaa
Nirvighnam Kurumedeva Sarvakaaryeshu Sarvadaa”

By chanting this mantra, we are praying to Lord Ganesha that ‘O-Lord Ganesha, who has a large body, curved trunk and brightness of a million suns, please remove all obstacles in my exertion always.’ This is a suitable mantra for chanting on Ganesh Chaturthi and impress Him.
