Bahula Chauth story

Their was a cow named Bahula who was comming  back home to feed its calf. On the way home it met the lion. The cow got scared seeing death but with enough strength asked lion for sometime. It said to lion to allow her to go home and feed her calf. After that she would come to him and offer  itself to him. The lion allowed her. Bahula returned as she promised to the lion after feeding her calf. Seeing the cow’s devotion to her calf the lion got shocked  and was touched . Hence, he let the cow go.

This shows that the strength and the furiosity of lion  could also not stand before the love of the cow for its calves and this is how they celebrate this festival. This festival is celebrated to get the blessing of the Deitis.
