Gayatri Jayanti is that very day on which rishi Vishwamitra chanted gayatri month for the very first time . This powerful mantra found in rigved is very old and the most woshipable mantra , born from intense dedication and penance of rishi Vishwamitra , that is dedicated to sun god , Savitri.
RITUALS
Wake up early in the morning and take bath.
Offer flower, dhoop and other Prasad to the idol of goddess Gayatri.
Many devotees chant the gayatri mantra and also perform yagya.
Chant the gayatri mantra 108 times and also study its meaning.
Some devotee also fast on this day.
People are encouraged to help others on this day and to also perform charity which will show the compassionate nature of God.
