Sati went to the place of yagya where she was greatly insulted by her father. Being insulted by her father, Sati burnt her body in the yagya kund. When Lord Shiva came to know about this, his anger became very huge. He picked up Sati’s body in his arms and sat at one place and started wailing. Seeing all this, Lord Shiva’s sorrow echoed in the universe. After this, Sati’s soul was reborn as Parvati and Mother Parvati did a tough penance to get her beloved husband Shiva.
